The music was inspired by European waltzes, Pixar music, and robotic rhythms (I nearly called it KrautWaltz ). https://linktr.ee/sleepingorchard • The lyrics are a poem I wrote at work, with a chorus added. I used my analog drum machine as the rhythm section, directly into the cassette recorder and then recorded guitars and vocals on top, using a Shure SM58 and my WEM Copicat tape echo alongside one of the lead vocals. I would have added more, I would have used different instruments...But I have what I have and that's all I can use for now until the next Marketplace outing. • Lyrics: • I’m the captain of a ship in a world of just dry land. • I’m a solitary brick in a wall that can’t withstand, • The wailing winds of winter nor the resting of a hand • I’m the ever willing soldier in a rank without commands. • I’m the writing on a concrete wall that’s due for renovation, • The ancient oak tree waving in the path of excavation, • Subject of a king who’s lining up for execution, • I still enjoy tradition in a world of revolution. • Come to me now, I’m taking requests, • We’ll soon figure out whose technique is the best. • I’ve been preparing this party for weeks, • It’s time we bowed down to the ghouls and the geeks. • I’m the fifth side of the pyramid that lasted all the ages, • I am the low-skilled dreamer ever flicking through the pages, • I am the seventh loving son born to father’s name. • I am the Disney remake of Citizen Kane. • Try not to step on my shadow, a black hole of shameless regret. • Come see the withering willow, and dream how much worse it can get. • Come to me now, I’m taking requests, • We’ll soon figure out whose technique is the best. • I’ve been preparing this party for weeks, • It’s time we bowed down to the ghouls and the geeks.
