My heart has been HEAVY from watching the Hurricane Helene devastation so I'm hoping this might help someone else too. ❤️‍🩹 • Yesterday afternoon, Jackie flew in and landed on the front porch balcony while quickly turning to glare at somebirdy flying around the nest area. Then in a flash, you can see Shadow do a flyby to possibly escort that somebirdy away from the area. I figured it was that or Shadow was teasing her with a fish and didn't deliver so then she went after him?🤔🎣 My zoom doesn't work well enough to check his talons.😆 • Later in the evening, they both stopped by for some nest-keeping and shenanigans! Jackie flew in first and as usual goes right to obsessing over the nest bole. Digging, aerating and staring down the tiny bugs before she evicts a few.🧐🪲🐜 • Then Shadow arrives and they work together rearranging a couple sticks and Shadow, as usual, getting in there beak to beak with Jackie to dig some more since he likes to be extra close to her. After a couple minutes, Jackie gets up on the back porch and she immediately feels Shadow moving up behind her with his sneaky shenanigans, so she swings around with a few quick warnings- Don't you be getting any funny ideas, Mr... Shadow pushes his way up beside her, where there wasnt quite enough room at that particular moment and they begin bumping each other left and right until Jackie finally backs up and gives Shadow room to take off. Ok that wasn't very gentleman like, Shadow... 😅 But then he saves her a spot next to him on their favorite Roost tree for the night. 🌙🌲 • So cute and funny. Their bond is amazing and just quacks me up!! Both have such strong and fun personalities and it's such a gift to witness from these apex predators, who would guess!?
