In windows, click on Start , right click on Command Prompt and run as Administrator • 2. At the command prompt, type this command: • ping www.google.com -f -l 1500 and press enter key • 3. You may see Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. It means that the packet size needs to be fragmented. • 4. Repeat above command with lower packet size value for example 1400 • 5. If you still get Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set. message, repeat the command with even lower value until you get something like this Reply from 173.194.36.112: bytes=1200 time=32ms TTL=55 • 6. When you get a reply from above ping command try a little higher vale for example add 5 or 10 to the value until you find the highest value that does not fragment • 7. Add 28 to the largest value that you have found which does not get fragmented. Result is the optimal MTU setting for you. • I hope it helped you!
