The Krewe du Exploration visits Lincoln Beach, an abandoned amusement park and beach in New Orleans East with a deep and complex history. Built during segregation as a recreational space for People of Color, it served as an alternative to Pontchartrain Beach, which was restricted to white visitors. However, after the Civil Rights Act was signed in 1964, Pontchartrain Beach was desegregated, leading to Lincoln Beach’s closure in 1965. Now, decades later, the site is being cleaned up by dedicated volunteers who hope to one day restore and reopen the park. • Update: In the beginning of the video what we thought was a homeless camp, turned out to be a worksite camp setup by artist Reggie Ford who is working diligently to clean up and bring back Lincoln Beach. • Check out Claudia Valcich's amazing photos! • https://www.claudiavalcich.com/PERSON... • Follow the Krewe: • @livealittleexplorations9328 @DeadlyKnot • For other photos videos, make sure to follow me on: • TikTok Instagram: @NOLADEEJ • My photography only Instagram: • @noladeejphotography • My website: • http://www.noladeej.com • Krewe du Exploration website: • http://www.kreweduexploration.com • Thanks for watching!
