We're finished(almost)!!! In this video we document the process of flipping our Airstream and give a full before and after renovation tour. Most of the materials and products used in our remodel are linked below. • When we decided to flip an Airstream, we were a little naive to all the challenges we would face. We had originally hoped to just do a cosmetic touch up to the RV, but it ended up being a full blown gut job renovation. The problem with these vintage trailers is that the frames tend to have rust issues because of how Airstreams are designed. Because of this, we had to gut the camper and start from scratch in order to preserve the frame. We had originally hoped that flipping the Airstream would take about 2-3 months but we are currently in month 5 and still aren't done! • We've remodeled other RVs in the past and we always underestimate the amount of work involved! There are also a lot of quirky things involved with Airstreams that we didn't really realize when we first bought it. The round shape of an Airstream makes building things square nearly impossible! Also, old RVs have LOTS of leaking points that need to be properly sealed before interior renovations begin. Otherwise all your beautiful work will be destroyed by water!
