Soft Landings is a new project by Tree Fest Ottawa and the Friends of Hampton Park, with the permission of the @NationalCapitalCommission. Funding for the project came from the University of Ottawa's TD Environmental Leaders Program. • Volunteers dug out the sod beneath a young silver maple and replaced it with all native species of wildflowers, sedges, and small grasses. Stakes, rope and signage were erected to ensure that the plants are protected from foot and paw traffic, and from mowing equipment. #ottawa #urbanforest #nativespecies
