This entire song is also purposely a complete juxtaposition. • I wanted to create a world of thrilling carnival rides, flying trapeze artists, circus performers, carousels, and more (portrayed by the orchestra, choir, piano, and piano FX). And yet, I intentionally wrote an eerie undertone into the music that expressed my very real feelings of hurt and anger - as I learned that certain things in my life that I had always trusted - simply were not what I thought they were (portrayed with the use of synths, string bends, bass drops, and electronic FX). • Towards the end of the song, I wanted the music to feel like you were spinning in complete chaos with each chord progression, as if you were on a never-ending ride that you couldn't escape. • When creating the visual ideas for this film, I wanted to portray this chaos in Katy's character, as you see her in the beginning very bright and innocent (wearing yellow). Her character transforms throughout the film and by the end she finds her own strength and power (in blue) and finds her way to courageously exit the carnival of lies.
