Do you ever get a nagging pinch in the front of your hip when you’re bringing your knee to your chest, driving, climbing stairs, etc? • This pinch you feel usually happens when muscles around the pelvis and hip are tight. These tight muscles reduce the amount of space available to nearby tissues to move around freely. • The likelihood of pinching goes up when an individual has a pelvis that is pushed forward, aka anterior pelvic tilt or swayback posture. The pelvis position must be corrected to help with hip pinching, but just doing more posterior pelvic tilts is NOT the answer. The answer lies in understanding why the pelvic shift happens in the first place. • APT occurs to help an individual pick up hip internal rotation. This happens by increasing tension at the upper pelvis. Which ALSO reduces hip external rotation. • The solution is to get the pelvis to shift back and loosen muscles near the waistband. • To reduce hip pinching and to loosen hip muscles, try this exercise ball breathing technique! • #physicaltherapist #physicaltherapists #strengthcoach
