They are now largely confined to South India, due to displacement by the Indo-Aryan languages. • These languages are agglutinative, meaning complex words are formed from combinations of morphemes without changes in their orthography or phonetics. The typical sentence structure for the languages is subject-object-verb. • This video presents the history and evolution of the Dravidian languages from 3000 BCE to the present. • Disclaimer: all dates are approximations, and there are many hypotheses regarding the development and classification of these languages that are not represented in this video.
