While it's predominantly sour, there are bitter notes, sweet notes, pungent notes, and salty notes as well and I tell you when you try it for the first time you're gonna be like I never tasted anything quite like that before. And by having all five of these flavors, Schisandra is doing so many different things across the body. It's really amazing stuff. • What I want to talk to you about is how to take Schisandra. This is one that I often travel with because in the small bag it's easy to put my pocket and I can just pour some in my hand like that. Our recommended dose is 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per day - that's just recommended, of course you could try a little bit less or a little bit more. Throw it in your hand like that and throw back in your mouth and it is a wonderful flavor. Really quite sour but you'll come to love that sour flavor. • Some other ways to take this, this is great to add into things like smoothies or to just make a tea with it. Schisandra is often taken as a tea, so just pour some hot water over it. let it sit for a while and you're really gonna expand that flavor out into the tea. Many people will even do such things as a cooking with it. • Now, Schisandra is known as an adaptogen, it's doing a lot in your body. Some people find it a little bit stimulating, so definitely take it in the morning but you may not want to take it later in the day, but some people don't have a problem with that - it's not stimulating like coffee.
