Dark Souls 3 PVE Parrying Pontiff Knights

Parrying the Pontiff Knights at Irithyll - I would suggest using setup parries as they have some ultra quick opening moves which can make this tricky up close. • I am using Hornet Ring here(I still needs 2 parries with or without it) just so I can quickly dispatch that Knight at 01:05. • This is as the two Pontiff Knights Fire Witch at the Altar begin an annoying scripted descent through Irithyll which puts this run under time pressure. • Pontiff Scythe Knight really has two main combos(apart from the charging attacks which are tricky to parry). Its best to keep a little distance and bait his combos. • 1. Two Hit Combo at 00:03 (Right to Left upward slash followed by a slow left to right slash) - Keep out of range and run in to parry the slower second attack. • 2. Up to a five hit combo at 00:13 - you can parry any attack in this combo. Easiest to parry is the final one which has a delay giving you time to setup properly. I parried the 3rd hit here. • For the other Pontiff Knights, keep a little distance to avoid their ultra quick attacks. I am also using throwing knifes to bait the shield Knights to attack. • Hardest attack to parry flawlessly is the frost blade weapon art (00:24) and they love to do this often. • For the ultra fast slash at 01:22, its best to parry the second attack in combo(I was too far in this case). • lol at the parry fail at 01:59...almost ended me. • This run is at Soul Level 1, NG+7 • • Weapon Slots : Raw Mail Breaker +6, Simple Caestus +6 • Buffs: Gold Pine Bundle, Throwing Knifes, Kukri • Rings : Hornet Ring, Flynn's Ring, Red Tearstone Ring, Hunter's Ring
