I have detoxed from multiple substances, dozens of times at my house. The mere fact that I have done it so many times is a clue of how successful it is. • Detoxing from drugs or alcohol at home can be dangerous. The withdrawal symptoms from certain drugs can be deadly if not managed properly especially benzodiazepines and alcohol. • On top of the potential danger that comes with home detoxing are the chances for success. The rate of long term recovery in the overall population of alcoholics and drug users is very low, let alone trying to do it at home with no support. Trying to quit substances on your own at home almost never works. It requires help, medical supervision, and a long term recovery program. • One of the reasons people want to detox at home is to keep it quiet from family, friends, or their work. In my opinion, this is a bad idea. Addiction is a disease. Just like if you had cancer you would tell your family so they can support you, you would also go to the hospital or doctor's office and get proper help. Why wouldn't you do the same with addiction? • #homedetox #withdrawal #detox • Want To Be A True Soberdog?
