⚫ • In December of 1805 Joseph Smith Jr. was born. • Just six months later, the path of a Total Solar Eclipse crossed North America on June 16, 1806. • Every major event connected with Joseph Smith and the Restoration of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints took place entirely within the path of that Eclipse in the years that followed. • ~ • Joseph Smith was born Dec 23, the 8th and final day of Hanukkah/Chanukah in the year 1805. • The Total Solar Eclipse of 1806 coincided with the new moon (the phase for all Solar Eclipses) at the start of the month of Tamuz in the Hebrew Calendar. • The June 1806 Eclipse has sometimes been called Tecumseh's Eclipse after the Native American Shawnee chief, Tecumseh. He realized that the only hope for the various tribes in east and central North America was to join together. He was assisted by his brother, Tenskwatawa, called The Prophet, who called for a rejection of European influence and a return to traditional values. He is said to have predicted the eclipse as a sign. • ~ • Sites of the Restoration: • The Sacred Grove - The First Vision of God the Father, and Jesus Christ • Palmyra - Moroni's Visitations Printing of the Book of Mormon • The Hill Cumorah - Where the Golden Plates were Deposited/Recovered • Fayette - 3 Witnesses saw the Gold Plates and the Angel Moroni, Book of Mormon translation was completed, Church Organized • Colesville - First Branch Organized • Harmony - Book of Mormon Translation, Priesthood Restored • Kirtland - First Temple, Heavenly Visitations • Hiram - JST Revelations Received • Adam-ondi-Ahman - Site connected with Adam and Future Gathering with Jesus Christ • Far West - Settlement, Temple Site • Liberty Jail - Joseph Smith and others were unjustly imprisoned here • Independence - Jackson County, Identified as the center place of Zion, temple site was dedicated for future New Jerusalem • Nauvoo - Temple, Endowments, Revelations • Carthage Jail - Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were Martyred • ~ • NOTE: I discovered this when investigating eclipses for unrelated astronomy research (in the early 2020's) when I began thinking about the 2017 eclipse I had witnessed (my first time).
