3 Wild Berries that Grow Pretty Much Everywhere

I describe three genera of berry that thrive in the word's temperate regions but can be found (and grown) through temperate areas, subtropics, arctic, and subarctic (and even a bit in the tropics). I focus on temperate species, but they have similar characteristics that may help you, even of you are not a temperate dweller. The three genera that I discuss are: • Vaccinium - examples: blueberry, huckleberry, cranberry, lingonberries. These are the hardiest and can live in poor soil and extreme temperatures. • Rubus- examples: raspberry, blackberry, salmonberry, thimbleberry, brambles, dewberry, cloudberry. There are around 500 species in this genus! • Fragaria - Strawberries. • Follow me on Twitter: • / thelastgiw • Like me on Facebook: • https://www.facebook.com/The-Last-Gro... • Photo Attributions • Cloudberry by Franz Xaver • Vaccinium reticulatum by Forest Kim Starr • ~-~~-~~~-~~-~ • Please watch: Botanical Delights at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens for some fascinating stuff on edible plants, Mexican history, and other very cool nature nerd facts. • • Botanical Delights at the Vallarta Bo... • ~-~~-~~~-~~-~
