EDIT: Use something softer than the Scotch-Brite pad I used to clean the sensor. A rag or rougher-fabric t-shirt is fine. Courser materials like Scotch-Brite may cause pitting on the sensor overtime which affects its ability to function correctly. • Here's how to clean the flame sensor on a Comfortmaker RPJ II furnace. The furnace would light normally but then would shut off 4-5 seconds after lighting. 6 LED flashes would then appear through the viewing window. • Per White-Rodgers, 6 LED flashes means shorted flame sensor probe. • Usually, cleaning or replacing the flame sensor probe fixes the problem (as it did for me). The flame sensor for this furnace is Heil Quaker (ICP) 1380687: • https://www.supplyhouse.com/Heil-Quak... • Hopefully that fixes your problem. If it doesn't, a new controller may be needed. To determine whether you need to replace the controller, check out this forum: https://www.diychatroom.com/threads/c... • The updated controller for this furnace is the White-Rodgers 50A55-843: • https://www.supplyhouse.com/White-Rod...
