Speaking on March 17, 2019, two days after the attack, Marie Fitzgerald described her grandson’s actions as “unrepairable”. The suspect’s uncle, Terry Fitzgerald, and said the family is sorry for those who were killed and injured. • At least 50 people were killed and about as many injured in the March 15 attack in the city of Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island. Tarrant, 28, was charged with murder and is due back in court on April 5, 2019. Police said he was likely to face further charges.
