Western Australia contains a number of very large impact craters. One of these impact craters is still quite visible from aircraft, as it forms a perfectly circular 9 kilometer wide structure. Known as the Connolly Basin, this crater formed in a massive impact event approximately 60 million years ago. It originated when the area was densely forested. • If you would like to support this channel, consider becoming a patron at / geologyhub . • Another way to support this channel is to make an order via our gemstone and geology related etsy store at http://prospectingarizona.etsy.com. • This channel's merch store is also on etsy at http://geologyhub.etsy.com. • Google Earth imagery used in this video: ©Google • Thumbnail Photo Credit: ⒸGoogle Earth, Ⓒ2022 Maxar Technologies, Ⓒ2022 CNES / Airbus • 0:00 Impact Craters in Australia • 0:23 Connolly Basin • 1:16 Ancient Australia • 1:47 Impact Event • 3:23 Accessing this Crater • Citations: • [1] G.
