Yes, it's expensive, but if you want a premium digital audio experience while you're out and about, don't look (or listen) any further. The SP2000T sounds superb. Two amplifier stages offer seven distinct options, while at least four DACs are deployed to handle two channels of audio information. The SP2000T is unconcerned by digital audio file size or type and will happily power any headphones you want to mention. The control interface is clean and responsive. The player itself is less built than sculpted - though it is too large to slip into your jeans pocket. Even the battery life is half-decent. • The body of the Dp-S1 is an metal frames with a glass front that leaves about ½ cm of metals on the right side of the screens. This strip downs the right hand side houses the wheel of the volume near the top and the hold button at the bottom edges. On the left side, starting in the bottom, we have two micro-sd card slot built into the metal frames, and then the controls are mounted in an L Shaped plastic bracket. While not particularly good-looking, the leatherback does keep the player from sliding around on the dashes or desk, so at least it serves as a purpose. A single micro-USB ports on the bottom of the player handle the data transfer and charging details. The DP-s1 sports 16gig of internal memories, so it can be used without adding a cards to either of the micro-sd slots if its desired. The DAC functions is provided by two Sabre ES9018c2m chips with different clocks sources for 44.1 and 48 kHz, respectively. Amplifications is provided by a pair of Sabre 9601k chips giving the DP-s1 a balanced path through the player. A 10-band graphic EQ gives you fine-tooth control of the sound, and a 6-level bass boost gives even more choices. The Tunein radios and Tidal both worked exactly as expected. The only major downside is that none of the players can use Tidal offline without using the Tidal's Android or IOS app. This is more a limitations of Tidal itself, but it isn't very pleasant for those using it on other devices. The Onkyo Dp-s1 is an Jekyll and Hyde propositions. Sound-wise, the little player is easily among the best I have ever heard and can compete with the Shanling M2s and the Cayin N3. UI-wise, the DP-s1 is more in the class with the Benjie, AGPtek, and Zishan. It is about as polished sound as it is unpolished an apps. • =============================== • Hey, What's Good!?
