When playing rhythm guitar, it is important to move smoothly between different chords, so that the chord progression sounds clean and nice. This is exactly what this video tutorial for beginners is about: learn how to transition from one chord to the following giving the feeling of a continuum. • Following the video tutorial instructions, you’ll learn how to avoid unnecessary movements while moving between chords. For example, moving between Em and E only require one minimal movement of the index finger; moving between E and Am only require to transpose the shape of the chord one string lower. • Practice this as much as you can, since it might be challenging at the beginning. Do this with easy chords we have learned so far in other guitar video tutorials: • E chord: • Guitar Tutorial - E Chord • Em chord: • Guitar Tutorial - Em Chord • Am chord: • Guitar Tutorial - Am Chord • As you’ll get better with this movements, the chords progression will feel more natural and the sound will be nicer. Never give up! • What you'll learn in this video tutorial is valid both for electric guitar and for acoustic guitar. The way you move between chords is the same, you'll just have to adapt to the different characteristics of the neck of your guitar (some necks might make practicing slightly more painful, you can always take a break!). • Check out the other guitar tutorials, to make sure you are up to speed with all the basics necessary to learn how to play the guitar: • Guitar Tutorials . • If you want to practice what you are learning, you can try Yousician app (available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android).
