Try the practice map (1.16.1): https://github.com/jojoe77777/PerchPr... • The strategy used in this video is to climb up the closest tall obsidian tower as fast as possible using a water bucket, and then build up even higher using whatever blocks you have. The ideal height to build to is Y=123. Once you see the dragon circling around the pillar on the opposite side of the map, jump down into the water and run to the fountain. The dragon will fly to the middle to descend, and you can one-cycle to kill it. • How does this work? • When the dragon is flying around, it has a random chance to perch, or to strafe (fireball) the player. When the dragon is strafing the player, it cannot enter perch phase until it has gets near enough to the player to fireball it. To make the dragon perch faster, you want to avoid strafing as much as possible. One of the checks for random strafing is based on the player's distance to the fountain (0, 0). Here is a graph that shows how distance affects the dragon strafing: https://media.discordapp.net/attachme... • This information was obtained by decompiling Minecraft 1.16.2 using MCP, and staring at the code for hours. In testing, the dragon perches about 35% faster when using perch strats, compared to standing near the fountain. (tested manually on multiple seeds, as well as many automated tests) • Optional strats: • I climb up the tower using a water bucket on the front side, so if the dragon is in strafing phase, it can easily find me, shoot the fireball, and exit strafing phase • I also leave the water flowing down the front, so I don't need to mlg (you could also try riding off the tower with a boat) • Every few seconds while climbing the tower with water, turn around to check if the dragon is already going to perch (circling around the opposite tower)
