‪@vgermuse‬ 's Krell Patch taught me a lot of my foundational knowledge of modular synthesis and motivated a lot of my initial hardware purchases. So it seemed only fitting that I try to adapt this to the ‪@ArturiaOfficial‬ MicroFreak. • I quickly found out that I couldn't get as much modulation as I would like. There are no End Of Cycle triggers on the cycling envelope. The LFO as a source of random sample and hold can only be free running, or note triggered. And there is really only this single source of randomness. • To get around the lack of EOC and LFO trigger limitations, I used the Arp setting to generate a sequence. Each new arp note retriggers the LFO generating a new random value. This value then modulates the pitch resulting in a random sequence. • Then to add random lengths I made use of my ‪@Befacosynth‬ CV Thing to bring external modulation in from the ‪@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC‬ WoggleBug. • The MicroFreak Arp sends a gate out with every new not. This gate triggers the external clock input of WoggleBug which generates a new stepped random voltage. CV Thing converts that CV to midi and sends it back to MicroFreak to modulate the Arp rate. So every note is a random length in addition to the random pitch. In this way the pitch and length are not directly correlated. • Add in some filter modulation and massive revert from ‪@ZoomSoundLab‬ MS-70CDR and you have a really beautiful Krell song! • #krell #microfreak #eurorack #multistomp
