In this installment we'll be discussing the Aetherius Society, a UFO cult founded in 1954 by George King. They've only got about 10,000 people on their mailing list. • In doing this series I've restricted myself to two hours of research, so I'm including a couple links for further reading; • http://www.aetherius.org/ • http://www.has.vcu.edu/wrs/profiles/A... • In 1954, King studied yoga as a way to enlightenment, he claimed to have developed psychic powers, and became a medium .. resulting in aliens contacting him, to announce he'd been selected to become a member of the interplanetary parliament. • There are many groups which are careful and selective as to what they openly admit to be part of their doctrine, like scientology for example, but these folks seem proud to be nutters. • They believe in selfless service to others, so don't get me wrong they're not all bad. • Also included in their beliefs is enlightenment through Yoga, auras, chakras, and reincarnation - not as punishment and reward but as learning experiences. • according to their web page they have the answer to the question of the meaning of life, and no it's not 42. in their section discussing this topic they claim god chose to make itself the universe .. while still being greater than the universe. The goal of life, as they present it, is to evolve spiritually, • through gaining all necessary experience, in order to return to the divine source from which we came. • Naturally this is based on .. a book? • This remarkable book reveals the secrets of mastering the wheel of rebirth on Earth -- leading to Ascension and even beyond. The mysteries of life after death, higher states of consciousness, kundalini, chakras, karma, Ascended Masters, cosmic initiations, Atlantis, Lemuria, Maldek and life on other planets -- are explained simply and concisely. The book consists of nine sacred texts given by a cosmic intelligence known as Mars Sector 6 through the mediumship of Dr. George King • While they do promote the notions of spiritual healing, contact healing, absent healing, and their own self healing techniques they're at least smart enough to include the following disclaimer; • Spiritual healing is a complementary therapy, not an alternative therapy. This means that it is meant to be used in addition to appropriate conventional medical help, not instead of it. Spiritual healers should always advise their patients of this, and should of course never guarantee a cure. • The aliens they believe in aren't the usual bleeping BEMs (bug eyed monsters), little green men, or even anal probing greys but beings that, and I quote exists at a frequency of vibration which is higher than the frequency of vibration of the plane that we inhabit on Earth or in other words they are completely intangible and can only be contacted through an astral projecting yoga master, who would find their planets to be teaming with life.. just on a higher plane of existance .. another quote! Such a plane would be physical -- but a higher form of physicality than our physical senses or science as we know it is currently able to detect. • they believe we'll only be able to communicate with the cosmic masters after we fix the problems we have on earth - you know war, famine, disease etc.. naturally that didn't stop king from claiming to have communicated with them. • The Aetherius Society is unusual in being monotheistic, pantheistic and polytheistic. It is monotheistic in its belief in one God as the Absolute behind all creation. It is pantheistic in its belief that this God is the essence of all things, in all places, at all times. And it is polytheistic in its belief in advanced beings, conscious of their Divinity, who are sometimes termed Gods. In addition to this, there is a great reverence for the Goddess Earth. Some religions may regard these beliefs as mutually exclusive, but in Aetherius Society teachings, each fits harmoniously with the other without contradiction. • Unlike the Raeleans the Aetherius society is a theistic UFO/Alien cult.
