Scientists have discovered that about one in thirteen people have flexible ape-like feet after observing about 400 visitors to the Boston Museum of Science who walked barefoot on a mechanised carpet that analyzed several components of their feet. Compared with most of our very rigid feet holding the bones in the foot together, when primates lift their heels off the ground, they have a floppy foot with nothing holding their bones together. This is known as a midtarsal break and is similar to what the Boston team identified in some of the study's participants. • For more information • http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/science-envir... • Subscribe to The Daily Conversation • http://bit.ly/WZnLnd • Join the conversation on Facebook • / thedailyconversation • Add TDC to your circles on Google+ • https://plus.google.com/1001349258045... • Follow The Daily Conversation on Twitter • / thedailyconvo
