Life is everywhere—in oceans, forests, deserts, and even extreme places like hot springs and icy poles. • In the Biosphere, everything is connected. Plants grow in soil from the Geosphere, absorb water from the Hydrosphere, and use sunlight and air from the Atmosphere to make food through photosynthesis. • Animals eat plants or other animals, breathe the air, and drink water. Even tiny organisms help break down dead plants and animals, returning nutrients to the soil. • By studying the Biosphere, we learn how all life is linked and why it's important to protect our planet's ecosystems. After all, we're part of the Biosphere too!
