The two cleats are then connected together, and held in place by its own weight. Once connected, they provide for easy and fast future removal or dismounting. • One French cleat is mounted to the wall and the other cleat is fastened to the object you want to hang. As a carpenter, French cleats allows me to spread out an objects heavy weight across multiple wall studs.
