LESSON PLAN • https://www.history4humans.com/produc... • This History For Humans episode teaches the story of President Roosevelt's three night camping trip with John Muir, the Conservation Movement, and America's National Park Service. The story also interweaves Roosevelt's rise in politics including the Rough Riders, bumping heads with Tammany Hall in New York, and how he became a progressive and reforming president. It teaches the Meat Inspection and Pure Food and Drug Act, the Trust Buster , and Roosevelt's handling of the Pennsylvania Coal Strike to teach President Roosevelt's progressive reforms. • It then dives into how America's rich open lands were becoming increasing threatened by development and industrial growth and how John Muir strove to save Yosemite and other natural treasures and how he did just that sitting around the camp fire with the president. It's a story all students need to hear! • For teachers and homeschool parents, I have resources that go with this lesson that include interactive notesheets, a quick quiz, and an extension lesson with students reading a President Roosevelt speech, Conservation as a National Duty , answer some questions, and then get to be creative and artistic by designing a new logo fo the National Park Service. Engaging and enriching! • Enjoy!
