Special Forces unit: British SAS, World War Two • The Special Air Service was formed by David Stirling in 1941. Its purpose was to act as a desert raiding airborne force unit that would secretly fight behind enemy lines in the North African Campaign. • The first unit of the SAS, of around 60 men was called the L Detachment, Special Air Service Brigade. • This name was used to confuse the Axis into thinking it was a much larger paratrooper regiment. • • Credit: • Narrator: • Christian H Miles • Artwork: • Daniel turner • Direction, Animation: • Daniel Turner • Music: • Joshua LF Mitchell • 'SH SAS' •   / joshualfmitchell   • Please consider supporting our videos on Patreon • https://www.patreon.com/simplehistory... • • Get your copy of Simple History: World War II today! • https://www.amazon.com/Simple-History... • Simple history gives you the facts, simple! • See the book collection here: • Amazon USA • • https://www.amazon.com/Daniel-Turner-... • Amazon UK • http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daniel-Turner... • http://www.simplehistory.co.uk • Facebook: • https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simple-Histo... • Twitter: •   / simple_guides
