Type: Semiautomatic pistol • Produced: 1931-1954/1971-1977 • Caliber: 9 mm Parabellum (9x19 mm/9 mm Luger) • Action: Blowback • Trigger: Single action • Safety: Thumb lever/slide stop (frame), firing pin • Magazine: 9 rounds, box single • Sights: Rear, open sight fixed, V notch; Front, ramp shape fixed • Grooves: 6 grooves, right-hand twist • Barrel length: 4.01 (102 mm) • Overall length: 7.87 (200 mm) • Self-loading pistol, locked breech, based on Colt 1911A1 but with more ergonomic frame, in 9 mm Parabellum with lanyard ring and without grip safety. It is one of the mythical pistols of the Guerra Civil Española (Spanish Civil War) during 1936-1939 and widely exported during that period. It's a large frame model (L/F) and compared with other large framed Llama series models, this model with curved buttstock line, vertically scored wooden grips, and ring hammer, has more resemblance to Russian Tokarev pistol and Belgian FN High Power (GP-35). • The producion of model XI finished when came the new XI-A in 1957. • Ribbed wooden grips or plastic in the 1970 model, known as Nuevo Modelo 1971, with rounded-hammer and eight-round magazine. Earlier issues had a lanyard ring at bottom of left side of the grip frame, but this ring was omitted in later issues and the grip pieces were redesigned.
