Would it be helpful for you to hear the harmony parts isolated by themselves? Here's a link to downloadable recording of both the tenor and alto harmony parts. • https://dedicated-hustler-1163.ck.pag... • Here are the time stamps for the song: • 0:00 Intro • 0:07 Chorus - Melody • 0:40 Verse 3 - Melody • 1:07 Verse 4 - Tenor Harmony • 1:35 Verse 4 - Alto Harmony • 2:10 Chorus - Tenor Harmony • 2:38 Chorus - Alto Harmony • 3:07 Chorus - All Parts • 3:48 Outro - Isolated Parts • Now to explain how the harmonies work in this song... • I'm singing this in the original Hillsong Worship key of D major. BUT, I sing it an octave lower (the male register) from the original. • The first harmony part is directly above the melody, often called the tenor part. • The second harmony is the alto part (this could be considered as being directly below the female melody or above the tenor part). • So, it would look like this visually from bottom up: • (Higher melody) • Alto harmony ○○● • Tenor harmony ○●○ • Lower melody ●○○ • 🎹I tried showing which note of the triad these harmony parts represented though the dots (●○). In the key of D, the root triad would contain the notes D F# A. If the melody started on D, the tenor would sing the F# and the alto the A. • 💻If you'd like to learn more about Worship Refocus which my wife and I started as a resource for worship musicians, feel free to visit our site. https://worshiprefocus.com • Also follow us on instagram instagram.com/worshiprefocus • Or like us on facebook.com/worshiprefocus • Join our newsletter to stay up to date! https://dedicated-hustler-1163.ck.pag...
