The Yucca plant genus contains about 40 species, and is native to the high deserts of Mexico and the southern USA. • Find out much more about what is yucca and how to grow it at • http://www.gardenershq.com/Yucca-plan... • It is traditionally used for the creation of soaps (as it is rich in saponins), for making fires, and to hang meat. • Yucca plants are perennials that grow from 30 cm to 3 metres (about one to ten feet) in height, and perform best in zones 3 to 10. • They bloom at night from mid-summer through autumn. Flowers are cream and have a soapy fragrance. • Plants perform best in full sun, and can tolerate dry soils of pH 5.5 to 7.5. • The leaves are pointed and sharp, so it is not the best plant to grow if you have children or pets.
