Hi everyone, after finishing Moonblood I felt like I needed a bit of a breather while still bringing some Doomage to the table, so today I'm gonna begin playing a short but very sweet set by Keagan Dunn called The Mountaineer. This 5-map, MBF21 wad is a 100% wholesome dedication to James Paddock for his birthday, and features Jimmy's own music as a wonderful soundtrack accompanying a very epic climb. • IWAD: doom2.wad • Difficulty: Ultra-Violence (pistol start) • Port: DSDA-Doom 0.27.3 • Compatibility level: 21 (MBF21) • QoL mods: Colored Blood • Additional notes: Get your bagpipes out and prepare for the trek to the summit. It's a damn gorgeous opener with lovely textures and a colormap to match, though if you so wish, you can use the extra grayscale palette included with the WAD. It oozes atmosphere and has some pretty cool combat on top. Mr. Paddock is quite expectedly the star of the show: he's channeling the energy of the Highlands with a suitably sprightly composition in 3/4 time, has displaced Doomguy for a spot in the status bar, and there's even a photo of him in one of the secrets. Other things that jump out are the light touches to gameplay: the pistol is faster and the caco also seemed to have gained a speed boost. Watch out while you're on the cliffside at the beginning - a careless drop results in an insta-kill, courtesy of MBF21's extended capabilities. The way to the top might be long, but the ride to the bottom is longer! • Secret 1: 1:41 • Secret 2: 3:13 • Get the wad here: • https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/lev... • QoL mods links: • Colored Blood: • https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic...
