It was ported by Probe Software and published by LJN. The game was released in North America in March 1993 and in Europe in 1993. • LJN operated as a subsidiary of Acclaim Entertainment. • • Alien 3 is based on the 1992 feature film of the same name. • ◦ It is one of many titles created for numerous platforms to coincide with the movie's release. The NES version uses similar gameplay to Probe Software's other entries, although the levels are unique. • • In Alien 3, players control Lieutenant Ellen Ripley as she makes her way through the Fiorina Fury 161 prison colony to escape the planet. • ◦ Unlike the movie, Ripley has a large arsenal of weapons – including the iconic pulse rifle and a flamethrower – and must not only defend herself against hordes of aliens, but also rescue a number of prisoners, all within a tight time limit.
