Polishing a set of shotgun barrels is a long, tedious task; but when done properly, the results can be amazing. Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, demonstrates the process for polishing a set of shotgun barrels in this GunTec presentation. The trick to polishing curved surfaces, such as a shotgun barrel, is the use of shaped, rubber backers designed for woodworking. This process starts with 100 grit abrasive and continues through 240 grit. The final polishing is done using a high quality, 320 grit silicon carbide paper with cutting oil used as a lubricant.
