Having previous studied bifurcations in one-dimensional dynamical systems, we now turn to bifurcations in planar systems. We demonstrate that much of the same phenomena can take place. That is, saddle-node, transcritical, and pitchfork bifurcations still take place in higher-dimensional systems. The only difference is that stability is more complicated to track. We illustrate with two examples: one of a saddle-node bifurcation and one of a pitchfork bifurcation. • This course is taught by Jason Bramburger for Concordia University. • More information on the instructor: https://hybrid.concordia.ca/jbrambur/ • Follow @jbramburger7 on Twitter for updates.
