LETTER TO THE ROMANS Chapter 2 • The just judgement of God • 1 Therefore whoever you are, or man who judges, you have no reason for excuse, because, while you judge the other, you condemn yourself; you who judge, for do the same things. 2 Yet we know that the judgement of God against those who commit such things is according to truth. 3 You who judge those who commit such deeds and in the meantime do them yourself, do you think of escaping the judgement of God? 4Or do you despise the wealth of his goodness, his clemency and his magnanimity, without recognising that the goodness of God drives you to conversion? 5You, however, with your hard and stubborn heart, accumulate anger upon you for the day of anger and revelation of the righteous judgement of God, 6which will render to each according to his works: 7the eternal life to those who, persevering in the works of good, seek glory, honour, incoruptibility; 8wrath and indignation against those who, by rebellion, disobey the truth and obey the injustice. 9 Tribulation and anguish on every man who works evil, on the Jew, first, as on the Greek; 10 glory instead, honour and peace for the one who works good, for the Jew, first, as for the Greek: 11 For God does not prefer people. • 12 All those who have sinned without the Law will perish without the Law; those who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law. 13 For it is not those who listen to the Law who are righteous before God, but those who put the Law into practice will be justified. 14When the Gentiles, who do not have the Law, by nature act according to the Law, they, although they have no Law, are law to themselves. 15 They show that what the Law demands is written in their hearts, as is clear from the testimony of their conscience and from their own reasoning, which now accuse them now defend them. 16 So it will be in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Gospel, through Christ Jesus. • Even the Jews are in sin • 17But if you call yourself a Jew and rest confident in the Law and put your pride in God, 18you know his will and, instructed by the Law, you know how to discern what is best, 19and you are convinced that you are the leader of the blind, the light of those who are in the darkness, 20the educator of the ignorant, the master of the simple, because in the Law you possess the expression of knowledge and the truth... 21 Well, how come you, who teach others, don’t teach yourself? You who preach not to steal, steal? 22 You who say not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who hate idols, do you steal their temples? 23 You who boast of the Law, offend God by transgressing the Law! 24 For it is written: The name of God is blasphemed for your sake among the nations. • 25Of course, circumcision is useful if you observe the Law; but, if you transgress the Law, with your circumcision you are an uncircumcised. 26If, therefore, those who are not circumcised observe the prescriptions of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be considered as circumcision? 27And so, whoever is not physically circumcised, but observes the Law, will judge you that, despite the letter of the Law and the circumcision, you are a transgressor of the Law. 28Judeo, in fact, is not the one who appears so on the outside, and circumcision is not that visible in the flesh; 29but Judaeus is the one who is inwardly and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter; his praise does not come from men, but from God. • Canvas of various sizes • Various techniques • Year:1992/2024 • Text: • BBE New Testament • This recording of the Bible in basic English was made by • Public Domain Audio Bibles.com • The narration uses a woman’s voice with a British accent. • Source: • https://www.audiotreausure.com • AudioTreausure.com
