When Desmond Doss (played by Andrew Garfield) fights with his brother, he almost loses him because he hits him with a brick, and his father nearly punishes him with a belt because of it. Years later, when he has grown up, he saves a wounded man in a car accident by using the same things. He grabs a brick to hold the elevated car and uses his belt as a tourniquet on the man's injured leg to save him from losing too much blood.
