Material for this video was mined from the Prelinger Archives, a massive collection of rare film clips which are free for public use. I combined footage of schizophrenic patients in the 40's with clips of stunt-men performing dangerous feats. I'm drawn to the contrast between the stuck-ness of the sufferers and the liberated zeal of the dare-devils. • A mentor of mine (a veteran bay area psychotherapist) once insisted that schizophrenics are the loneliest people alive. No less than once a month I recall that statement. • Am I watching you all from a tilted hallway? • Passing over the town on stilts? Well maybe. • Am I shouting at you through a sink of wet clay? • Putting kisses on you through glass? Well maybe. • Or maybe I'll land on some mother arm, alone, resting with a sister too.
