This list is rather subjective and there are times where we may be biased in our opinion on certain Mario games. Mario is a series that’s particularly difficult to look at games objectively since so many of us grew up with these games. With so many loveable games in the series, it’s tough to decide what the best game could be. • For this list we decided to focus more on the 2D and 3D platformer Mario titles. This means that Mario Kart and Mario Party games won’t be featured on this list. Looking back at Mario’s history is always a good time. So many of these games are replayable and fun that it’s difficult to definitively say what is better than another game. It should be noted that just because a game might be higher up on the list than another, doesn’t mean that game is terrible or bad by any means. • It’s interesting to see what people say is the best Mario title as their opinion is often influenced by nostalgia. Take for instance the discourse regarding Super Mario Sunshine, many of those who claim the game is terrible did not grow up with it. There are plenty of awful Mario games, but it’s rare for this to be the case for more of the mainline titles.
