On Sunday 4 October at the National Concert Hall at 1:05pm, RTÉ and Rhythm Lab are presenting a PERCUSSION SPECTACULAR where there'll be 20 top percussionists on stage, led by Noel Eccles in a show that's about rhythm, beat and getting the full audience to participate! • • I was at a workshop at the Concert Hall this morning thanks to RTÉ Performing Groups where I watched as Noel taught George Hook and seven volunteer who won a competition on his radio show for a workshop with Noel and to appear on stage with him on Sunday. • • Noel, a master percussionist who played principal with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, is a member of Moving Hearts , toured with Riverdance and has performed worldwide with U2, Van Morrison, Sting, The Chieftains, Hothouse Flowers, Elvis Costello and Sinead OConnor. He's also behind the amazing percussion piece at the 2003 Summer Olympic Games here in Dublin. • • He'll be leading his percussionists including musicians from the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and special guests and the audience (who will all be provided with instruments) in a blitz of percussion, of rhythm and of noise. It promises to be great fun. Hosted by Brian Ormond of RTÉ Young People's TV, it's a concert for everyone aged 5 to 105. • • Tickets are €10 for a child, €15 for an adult, a family ticket for two adults and two children is €42.
