Easy open hat processing 🤔

🥁 We sometimes take open hats for granted. What I mean by that is we often include them in our tracks without realizing how much of an impact they have on the groove of the drums and the overall track. • ✅ Making them stand out in the mix is actually quite simple. Start by applying some distortion to the open hat. I’m using Arturia’s Dist ColdFire with the TANH waveshaper algorithm. Applying distortion will create a « sausaging » effect that thickens the sound but ruin the transient. • 👊 To get the transient back, I applied some compression using Ableton’s Glue Compressor.
