Adventuring after a hip replacement 💪🏽 • When it comes to recovering for a hip replacement it’s important to regain both your mobility and strength ☝🏽 • Simple movements can help in your initial recovery to do that without increasing pain and aggravating the joint 👍🏽 • The blue tape signifies the “surgical leg” 🦵🏽 • 6 weeks is typically used as a time to increase activity as pain likely is reduced at this point. Please keep in mind everyone’s surgery experience will be different. Some can do more earlier while others may take a little more time ⚠️ • For these particular movements, if they do not feel good for you- hold off. These movements should not significantly increase pain ‼️ • In my experience, many people with hip replacements can recover rather quickly. These are some common moves I used frequently with patients following hip replacements when I was working in home care 🏡 • Start conservative with repetitions, for example 5-8 repetitions to avoid aggravating the joint as you work to build more tolerance to activity ✅ • IMPORTANT: If you have been given any movement restrictions or precautions, please abide by those ⚠️ • Inside of the membership, Adventurers for Life- I just uploaded a new follow along routine for those after a hip replacement which can be found in the Workout Library 🙌🏼 • Adventurers for Life is there to help you with all aspects of the journey with arthritis and is adaptable to what you are going through and how your joints are feeling ❤️ • While movements and strategies to reduce inflammation can help to avoid surgery, it’s not always 100%. There certainly is a time and a place for it and it doesn’t mean you’ve “failed”. The more you know and the stronger your body is- the more prepared you’ll be for recovery 👏🏼 • #hipreplacement #hipreplacementrecovery #hiparthritis #hippain #hipexercises #hiposteoarthritis #physicaltherapist • Not medical advice.
