Learn to assemble a paper model of NASA's Psyche spacecraft. We are going to crease both of these panels along the dotted line. • Then, we will move to this shape, and we’re going to make all of the folds that we need to make along the dotted lines. For later use, we are going to poke some holes. We’re going to poke one hole in this red spot, another one in this red spot, and then a final hole where we’re going to mount our satellite later. And we’re going to apply some tape to the back side, so it has some sticking out of these little white tabs. We’re going to overlap the tab up to the dotted line, and we are going to press our piece of tape. • For the last box, just put the tape on the outside. First thing you want to do is get a full skewer. You’re going to open your panel up. • You’re going to set probably a third of the skewer inside of the panel, and you’re going to tape that down. Then you’re going to get the other half of the panel and you’re going to fold it over and you’re going to apply the tape. And feed it through the two holes that you poked in your box earlier, and snug it up to the edge. • And you can grab the other panel that you made, and do the same thing. • Alrighty, now our satellite is almost complete, we have the panels, we have the main box. The last thing we need to do is get our little satellite dish made. So we’re going to grab a small piece of tape, and we are going to overlap the dish until the dotted line meets up with the blue of the satellite dish, and we can no longer see the white part that says, “cut here.” And we are going to apply a piece of tape to the back of that. Get another skewer, and we’re going to measure it so it is about the size of our satellite box. And we’re going to break it right there. And then we’re going to get the center of our dish, and we’re going to poke the skewer right through the middle of it, run that all the way down. • And that is the Psyche Satellite! • Credits: Filming by Abigail Weibel, model assembly by John Domenico, music by Isaac Wisdom, editing by Brooke Owen.
