In one minute, U-M scientists can convert algae into biocrude -- a process that takes decades in nature. With the advancement of this technology, Chemical Engineering Professor Phil Savage hopes that humans will be able to grown and harvest our own energy sources rather than using the current hunter gatherer method of drilling. • ABOUT THE PROFESSOR: Phil Savage (http://che.engin.umich.edu/people/sav...) is the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor of Chemical Engineering (http://che.engin.umich.edu/) at the University of Michigan. His research focus is on energy production from renewable resources, developing novel processes for converting biomass hydrogen, methane, and liquid transportation fuels.
