Join us to discover how we let our students experience one of a kind fun-learning experience in the field of Mathematics. We find ways, we don’t stop. • 5 Key takeaways • 1. Sharing the experiences and expertise of the teachers that are worth emulating in Mathematics • The school provides opportunities for current and aspiring teachers to indulge themselves in the different pieces of training and seminars provided by the Department of Education and other institutions locally, nationally, and internationally to gain and develop teachers’ expertise and experience in teaching, to uplift the quality of mathematics education in our school. They also showcase their teaching skills whenever the seminars and training attended ask them to do so. This event helped hone the teaching skills of the teachers so that when they exercise their duties and responsibilities in transferring learning to learners in Mathematics are a complete package. Teachers are also given opportunities to demonstrate and share these skills that they have learned from training and seminars in the school. • 2. Developing learners holistically • Teachers are trained how to establish and implement a clear and defined mathematics strategy that is appropriate for each student. Learners are provided opportunity to enhance their values and self-confidence while participating in the learning process in this instance. Learners are given the freedom to learn in their own way and to strengthen themselves by putting what they've learned into practice in real-life situations. Through Project ALGEBRA, students who are proficient in mathematics are given the opportunity to study advanced topics in mathematics. Students are provided plenty of practice time. However, we make sure that the students are having fun with their work. We are producing Math wizards in this initiative who will represent the school in any academic competition locally, nationally, and even internationally. • 3. Strengthening the simple and basic to resolve the complexity of Mathematics • In our school, we are helping the learners to practice themselves with the basics of Mathematics with the help of teachers’ innovations and best practices. These are as follows: Project AN where we determine the numeracy level of the junior high school starter so that those who turned out as non-numerates by the instruments used, will be able to undergo remedial activities until they master the basic; Project BASIC(Basic Arithmetic Strategies for Improved Computation) where the teacher spends a day of their weekly class period to provide video lessons and remedial activities in printed or digital depending on the learning modality of the learner on the Four Fundamental operations for Non-numerates thru our activity called 4Fs (Finite, Fast, and First Step for Improvement); In these activities, the teachers also provide enough time to the learners to grapple with solving basic Mathematics problem, search their strategies and solutions, and evaluate their results. By doing this, helps in developing the critical thinking process of the learners. • 4. Engaging stakeholders in the numeracy development • The school believes that the stakeholders play a vital role in the welfare and success of the school. They are the partners of the school leaders in making the schools conducive to teaching and learning.’ Therefore, in all the undertakings of the school, stakeholders are involved. One good example is the active participation of parents or guardians in the numeracy project. Pandemic did not serve as an impediment in the improvement of the numeracy skills of learners. Parents are sending videos and photos while they are teaching and helping their children understand the lesson. They also send messages whenever there are topics that are not clear to them. They serve as a para teacher in the new system of education. Though, it has been practice seen the numeracy program started. It just became prevalent nowadays. • 5. Collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association, Local Government Unit and Non-Government Organizations for support on remediation and enhancement programs • Efficiency in different indicators of learning in Math, to meet the expected performance standards and with consideration to the diverse context of students, was strengthened with the school’s partnership to the stakeholders, i.e., the PTA, LGU’s, and NGO’s. The school projects and programs were realized with the support of different stakeholders. They provided financial support for purchase of learning materials such as tablets, reviewers and other references. The Local Government Unit also provided tablets for selected indigent students. These and more were collaborative efforts of the stakeholders in the realization of inclusive and equitable Math education. • #WorldEduWeek • #WorldEducationWeek • #StrongSchools • #SchoolsPrizes • #T4Conf • #T4Education • #EducationImpact • #WorldsBestSchoolPrizes • #Inclusion • #Philippines
