Legal vs. Lawful: There’s a critical difference. • If you’re thinking that “legal” and “lawful” mean the same thing, it’s time to reconsider. Check their definitions in Black’s Law, Bouvier, or even an English dictionary, and you’ll see the for yourself. These terms look similar but carry distinct meanings: if the words are not spelled the same way, they don't mean the same thing. Recognizing this distinction can help you avoid falling into the traps of what some might call “black word magic” i.e. legal language designed for obfuscation and control. • Consider this: plenty of things are entirely unlawful yet technically legal, and vice versa. Many actions and activities align with natural law and morality yet fall outside legality. It's important to note that legalese, while appearing similar to English, is essentially a different language used by members of a legal society, like the BAR or the CROWN corporation. Are you a member of a legal society? And if not, why are you using their language and abiding by their rules? Technically, that's fraud, and the legal societies (and their language) are riddled with it. • Words matter.
