2024 Hyundai SONATA N-line – interior, exterior and drive / ALL-NEW Hyundai SONATA N-Line 2024 • Hyundai is launching the 2024 Sonata in the United States with a sharp new look, bigger screens inside, and optional all-wheel drive for the first time. • The Sonata in the United States seems to be virtually identical to the Korean model, with the exception of a piercing new front end dominated by a full-width LED strip positioned atop a chiseled bumper. The rear light bar has also been updated, with LEDs creating a H, visually connecting the sedan to the new 2024 Santa Fe. The N Line receives a rear lip spoiler and oval exhaust tips, as well as new wheel styles across the board. • While the most noticeable modifications are the startling cosmetic upgrades, there have also been significant alterations under the skin. While the standard 191-hp naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four remains, the 180-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder seen in the costlier SEL and Limited grades is no longer available. The major news is that the 2.5-liter engine may now be combined with all-wheel drive, which is a first for the Sonata. Hyundai will be able to compete for sales with the all-wheel-drive Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, and Subaru Legacy thanks to the front-biased system. • The sporty N Line variant returns for 2024, still producing 290 horsepower from a 2.5-liter turbo four and driving only the front wheels. The hybrid model remains unaltered for 2024, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor to provide 192 horsepower. According to Hyundai, the hybrid now has paddle shifters and a regenerative-braking mode. • Inside, the conventional 8.0-inch touchscreen has been replaced by a 12.3-inch one situated in a curved display next to the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, which was formerly an optional feature in the Convenience package. The new displays are part of a bigger redesign that includes a long rectangular air vent that spans the majority of the dashboard, a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel, and the shifter now jutting from the steering column rather than being housed in the center console. • Hyundai states that the optional 12-speaker Bose sound system has been retuned, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which were previously only available on SE vehicles without navigation, are now available on all 2024 variants. Hyundai also claims that the updated Sonata is the first vehicle in its class to include a motorized trunk. • The 2024 Sonata will be available at showrooms this winter. We anticipate a modest price rise, with the basic SE starting about $27,000 and the N Line starting around $36,000.
