The Bangladeshi leather industry is worth half 1 billion pounds, with the majority of Bengali black leather exported to European leather goods manufacturers. But the process of tanning leather hides is highly toxic and workers face appalling conditions with little regard for health and safety. 90% of them die before they reach the age of 50 and the Industry is responsible poisoning the countries main waterways.
