John Smith of the Golden Gate Live Steamers caught four articulated steam locomotives operating at the Tilden track during the summer of 1983. The locomotives include Andy Clerici's 2-6-6-6 H8 Allegheny, Dick Thomas' 2-6-6-2, Joel Yetter's 2-6-6-2, and Ed Youngling's 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward. The locomotives are 1-1/2 inch to the foot running on 7-1/2 gauge track. To help envision the size of these locomotives in real life, I threw in some video the largest steam locomotive I've got, Union Pacific's 844. • I found a YouTube video of Andy Clerici's Allegheny currently operating at a Chesapeake Ohio Historical Society -- that video can be seen here: • https://www.youtube.com/embed/zCW1ndi... • Bob Morris reports that Dick Thomas's locomotive was sold to Ron Wishart who went on to donate it to the Sacramento Rail Museum. Ed Yungling's Cab Forward still operates occasionally at the Sacramento club. Ed Yungling still has his 2-6-6-2. • Happy 80th Anniversary GGLS!
