But firstly, what actually was the Corded Ware Culture? • Now the Corded Ware Culture refers to quite a broad archaeological zone across Europe and is dated from 3000 BC – 2350 BC. It covered a vast area, from a contact zone with the Yamnaya culture to the east, just north of the Black Sea (I have made various videos on the Yamnaya I’ll link above), through large parts of northern Europe and into large parts of Scandinavia. It’s territory can broadly be described as stretching from the Rhine river in the west to the Volga in the east. The Middle Dnieper culture served as a bridge culture between the Corded Ware and Yamnaya cultures.
