The Smart Feed system is very easy to use even for people who aren't technically gifted. To begin, remove the lid, hopper and conveyor for a quick rinse. After re-assembly you plug in the ac adapter or install 4 D cell batteries or both since the batteries will operate the feeder in the event of a power failure. Once this is completed, download the Smart Feed app to your smart phone and follow all of the simple instructions before filling the hopper with dry or semi-moist food. The hopper holds 25 cups of food which is enough for multiple feedings. After priming the feeder manually by pressing and holding the manual feed button you are now ready to use the Smart Feed system. You can schedule automatic feedings or dispense food yourself using the app. In fact, the Smart Feed app will send you a notification each time it feeds your pet. You can also adjust the amount of food delivered from 1/8 of a cup to 4 cups, according to your dog's size and diet. The Smart Feed System is made from BPA free plastic and comes with a stainless steel bowl.
